Today our high school Quiz Bowl Team competed at Sutherland in the ESU #16 District Quiz Bowl Tournament.  Participating schools included Paxton, Arthur, Stapleton, Hershey, South Platte, Mullen, Perkins County, Hyannis, NPSP, Sutherland, Brady and Ogallala.

Perkins County went 1-2 on the day and finished with a tie for 5th place.

PC defeats Hyannis 50-5
PC loses to Sutherland 35-50
PC loses to NPSP 15-45

Only the top two teams advanced to compete at the State Tournament.  This brings an end to our season.

Congrats to our team on a good run, this year.  Team members include Kenyon Gaar (captain), Zach Malmkar, Jaci Kurkowski, Jack Kohl, Chris Terry, Nathan Kemling, Jacob Woodmancy, Matthew Wendell, Ethan Terry and Keegan Sims.

I'd especially like to recognize our team's six seniors including Kenyon Gaar, Jaci Kurkowski, Jack Kohl, Nathan Kemling, Chris Terry and Zach Malmkar.  Combined, they have 19 years of experience in the high school quiz bowl circuit.  In that time they've helped our team win the SPVA Conference Championship twice(2016, 2018), the District Runner-Up twice (2015, 2017)  and qualify for the All-Class State Tournament two times (2015, 2017).  In 2017 they finished in the top 9% of all quiz bowl teams -- in all classes -- in the entire state.  These seniors have helped compiled more wins in their 4-year stretch than any other 4-year stretch since we started quiz bowl back in 2006.  Kudos to them on a fabulous run!

Thanks to all of you for your support this season.
