2021-2022 Re-opening Plan

Perkins County School has qualified for $327,000.00 of Federal funding through the American Recovery Act (ESSERS III). To meet the requirements of this funding, PCS must publish a plan for a safe return to school in the event of a future COVID outbreak. While PCS remained open during the 2020-2021 and followed our 2020-2021 Return to Learn Plan, PCS must seek input regarding our re-opening plan for the 2021-2022 school year. The PCS 2021-2022 re-opening plan may be reviewed here. Suggestions and feedback regarding the re-opening plan and use of ESSER III funds can be shared here. In addition to the feedback provided from our parents, patrons, students, and staff, PCS must communicate plans for the use of the ESSER III dollars. Our survey has been accessible since June of 2021 and administration has taken input from those willing to share thoughts and ideas and feedback from our Board. PCS plans to use 10% of the funds for technology; 67% for learning loss that includes mental health supports, curriculum, accelerated and remedial learning opportunities, and professional development; 22% for air quality and efficiency controls.

The Perkins County Board of Education or the superintendent of Perkins County Schools, if granted authority by the board of education, will make decisions regarding the operation of the school district during a pandemic. PCS believes its plan and operational protocols with COVID-19 were successful during the 2020-2021 school year. Soliciting feedback through our survey will assist PCS in enhancing and developing an appropriate plan if circumstances and protocols need to be changed in relation to another COVID outbreak. PCS does not anticipate restrictions or operating outside of our “Green” level as we enter the 2021-2022 school year.
